Cycle Tour Series

Cycle TourEight students from Year 8 attended the National Cycle Tour Series in Hanley town centre where they met the Professional Female Cycle Team for Great Britain and took part in a cycle ride around the cycle track. All students thoroughly enjoyed the event.


Playground to Podium

24062010569Congratulations to Alex Coley, Matthew Moores and Kamran Zahid who qualified at the Stoke City Playground to Podium event to represent Stoke at the Stafforshire County Assessment Day.

All three students have performed extremly well in the sports of table tennis and football as well as experiencing wheelchair basketball.

National School Sports Week

Year 8 OlympicsCongratulations to the Year 11 Btec groups who successfully organised and ran the Year 8 Mini-Olympics on Tuesday 29th June. The group led 8 different activities including: football, tennis, rounders, sportshall athletics, Ultimate Frisbee/Vortex, volleyball, softball and handball.

Year 8 OlympicsA special well done to the following students who planned all the events: Hanisi Campbell, Chloe Lane, Samantha Stephenson, Rhys Key, Simon Parry, Edward Hield, Niall Phillips, Jonothan Sheldon and Lewis Williams.

Playground to Podium

Congratulations to Karman Zahid, Alex Coley and Matthew Moores who have all qualified for the next stage of Playground to Podium.

The project sets out to identify sporting talent amongst students who have either a physical or non physical disability. It is a nation wide project which will ultimately identify children to attend the 2012 Olympics and to be on the Podium during the opening ceremony. All three boys havebeen chosen for their ability in football with Alex also been identified for Table Tennis.


Ali’s Trip To Africa

Challenge South AfricaFormer pupil Alishaan Hameed returned to Thistley Hough on Friday 5th February to talk to pupils about his upcoming visit to Africa as part of “Challenge South Africa 2010″. During the day staff and year 7 pupils raised money which Alishaan will be taking with him to donate to one of the orphanages Former pupil Alishaan Hameed returned to Thistley Hough on Friday 5th February to talk to pupils about his upcoming visit to Africa as part of “Challenge South Africa 2010″. During the day staff and year 7 pupils raised money which Alishaan will be taking with him to donate to one of the orphanages.

Challenge South Africa is an innovative project that has been developed through Stoke-on-Trent Youth Services and college enrichment programme to enhance the students’ awareness of equality and diversity on an international level.


Ex Pupil Golfing Success

010 Dance at The Regent Theatre

January 29th, 2010

Over 20 year 10 and 11 students performed in this year’s O10 dance festival at The Regent Theatre in Hanley. O10 Dance is a prestigious, local event which is held in January every year. This year the dance festival celebrated it’s 10th anniversary. Students worked extremely hard in preparation for this event and they all did us proud!

Inclusion Quality Mark Achieved

The Inclusion Quality Mark is designed to create a dialogue about inclusion, with objective and supportive evaluation, and a model for further growth.  It represents an excellent evaluative tool which dovetails with the new OFSTED framework and the SEF. To find out more about this award click here

Yr7 Festival of Sport Stoke Partnerships

Festival of SportOn Wednesday 20th January 2010, 30 Year 7 students, 15 boys and 15 girls attended the Stoke Partnerships Festival of sport at Fenton Manor. Students competed in teams of 7 or 8 in two sports from Futsall, Dodge Ball, Martial Arts and Rowing.

Sports Leaders

sportleadersOn Wednesday 13th January 6 sports leaders from Thistley Hough worked together with 6 leaders from St Peter’s to run a multi-skills intra-school competition for 60 Year 4 children at Stoke Minster Primary School. The Year 4 children competed in teams of 4 or 5 in the following 6 events:

1) Quicksticks dribbling
2) Standing Long Jump
3) Tri-golf
4) Tennis keep-ups
5) Target throw
6) Rugby Touch.

A huge well done and congratulations to the following sports leaders who ensured that the event was so successful..

Silver Ambassadors and members of the Stoke North Leadership Academy Liam Williamson and Emily Ekin, and Young leaders Zac Barrow, Logan Johnson, Charlotte Ellis-Dale and Anna Woronkowicz.
