Student Support Team
The aim of the student support team is to break down barriers to learning. These may include behaviour, social, emotional or language difficulties. We have a dedicated team who specialise in all the above areas.
The team is allocated students through a referral system. Referrals can be made through The Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Year, Heads of Department or Form tutors, however students can complete a self referral. Once the referral has been made students are assigned a key worker who is then responsible for 1:1 support and mentoring, in-class support / observations, contact with parents and to liaise with external agencies where required.
The team has a range of areas that they deal with. These include:
The department currently runs a number of courses. These include:-
- Learning Challenge
- Social use of Language
- Extra support for maths
- REACT! (Responses, Emotions, Attitudes, Communication, Tolerance)
Extra curricular activities are run by the department including:
- Co-ordination of student council
- Pool Club
- Lunchtime club
- Environmental club
